Database Engineer / Software Developer

Salary: £20,000.00-£25,000.00 per year

Admit One is a vibrant and growing technology company based in Dorset in the United Kingdom.

Our software suite is used by customers across the globe, from the United States to New Zealand, with users on all five continents.

We service the Cinema, Theatre and Attractions market in all areas of technology including Admissions, Retail, Hospitality, Digital Signage, Web and Mobile.

With a geographically diverse customer base, our staff often have the chance to travel to assist customers on location with compensation for time spent away. Whilst in the office, we have a relaxed work environment, regular social events and other life style perks.

Due to sustained growth we are looking to expand our software development team, specifically in a database data analysis role. We require somebody who can work with our in-house reporting system to build queries for customers based on their specification.

This person will have the opportunity to work within the software development team, to learn the specific software framework with a goal to enhance our reporting and analytics tools.

The Role

You will be required to work with customers on our in-house reporting framework, building reports from customer's (sometimes loose) specification. You will learn on the job the specifics of each customer's specific retail environment, which will enable you to drill into the transaction data, and provide accurate reports.

Part of the role will enable you to enhance the POS software's reporting framework so development experience is desirable, but not required.

You will also be working with our internal data to build reports for the management team on cinema trends - using past data to try and predict future blockbusters.

Required Skills

  • SQL DML/DDL, ideally PostgreSQL, however any flavour of SQL is beneficial
  • An ability to build queries based on a loose specification and understand and manipulate the resulting data
  • A solid understanding of programming principles
  • A good understanding of database infrastructure and management
  • Good time management and ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team and independently, as projects dictate
  • Strong communication skills, as you will be required to email customers through Jira service desk software

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in any object-oriented programming language
  • Enthusiasm to learn our database structures, and software framework

Package and Benefits

  • Market rate salary, based on experience.
  • Enrollment in the Company Pension Scheme
  • 30 days holiday p.a
  • Relaxed and casual work environment
